Oh Crop, I’ve Overpacked – Part 4
So it’s Tuesday. The crop was amazing but now it’s over. I’m just dealing with the aftermath. The putting away of all the things and cleaning up the inevitable mess I made while packing.
I had some successes. I had some failures. I had a lot of over estimation of my scrapping capabilities. (Not a surprise.)
My biggest failure was my paper trimmer decision. The trimmer I’d decided to use had a crappy blade and basically tore at the paper instead of cutting it. After much frustration I ended up using Sharon, my table mates, paper trimmers the entire second half of the crop.
This is always a big frustration for me when I’m trying to make something with precise measurements like a mini album. Trimmers are notorious for not cutting a straight line and it can be really disheartening when you’re wasting paper again and again because of crap product. (It’s possible some of my annoyance has stuck with me.)
So I will not be leaving my guillotine paper trimmer at home again. And I’m considering purchasing the Fiskars Procision 12 inch trimmer. I’ve been watching it in action and I think I might like it. We shall see.
Secondly, my back up project ended up being something I’d already started. So instead of using it as a back up, I decided to finish it first before starting my planned project for the crop. I used up the entire first day of the crop on this project so I didn’t get as far as I’d hoped on the main project so… I didn’t use hardly anything I brought with me. *face palm* I basically used my adhesives, paper trimmers, cardstock and chipboard. That’s it. I wish I’d known that was all I’d get around to using because I could have carried that in a single bag instead of all the other stuff I’d taken with me. So, there’s still work to be done in my planning. Also in my reality checking.
While I did better at keeping my table top straight, there were moments like this…
So, the saga continues. My next crop is in April and it’s just a girl’s weekend get away. Between now and then I want to try and organize not only what I bring but how I bring it. Stay tuned!!
