Home Again – July Life Sketch Part 1

(I’m not going to address the fact that I missed the last oh… 6 or 7 weeks. I’m just going to pretend it didn’t happen and move forward. LOL)

I’ve started working on a new project (for me) with Sherri at my local scrapbooking store, Scrapbooking Life. I love having a shop so close to my home.

Sherri has a monthly subscription program called “Life Sketch” that offers 1, 3 or 6 sketch + page kits. You get the sketch and all the pieces and parts (pre-cut!) to make them. Each is a double page layout and depending on how many you are subscribed to each month, you get add-on ephemera, stickers, chipboard etc.

We have a facebook group dedicated to this fun program and I’m the “coordinator” / cheerleader for the group.

I wanted to share the first half of the July subscription today. Sherri has done all of the pages exactly as the sketches call for and I’ve taken the sketches and used them as a starting point and made them my own.

Here are my first three double page layouts.

(You can see larger versions of these images in my project gallery here.)

The Collection we used for July was Home Again by Carta Bella/Echo Park. When I was considering what photos I wanted to use, I decided to go with the theme, “things that make me feel like home.”

I used the first page as kind of a cover or title page and have continued the entire series in this theme. I used a mix of color and black and white images. The black and white images made photos that might not match the color scheme work with no issues and I really like how these pages turned out.

I will be back soon with the second half of the collection. I’ve really enjoyed this project and look forward to seeing what the August Life Sketch has in store!

Talk soon,

Shellie

I’m pretty sure that after the last time I signed up to sell products as an “independent consultant” I said I would never sign up to do such a thing again.  It wasn’t a bad experience necessarily, but worrying about meeting minimums and me being a horrible face-to-face sales person just didn’t match up. In fact, until the actual day I signed up, I hadn’t truly considered becoming a CM Advisor.  But I was at a crop, hosted by my wonderful, lovely friend (and CM advisor) Ann, and she gave a brief spiel about what you might think about if you were considering being a CM Advisor.

I’ve been working on some new files for the Shellie Marie cut file shop and I’m excited to finally start adding them to the store! If you do as much travel scrapping as I do, then this is a file that’s bound to come in handy. This Are We There Yet? Cut file can be used for road trips, long travel days, international travel or even trips that weren’t even that long - they just felt like it. Customize your suitcase to match your layout or photos.  Resize for just the right fit, or if you’d like, print and cut the file and skip assembling it all together!
Life Sketch
This month I challenged myself to make 2 layouts that didn't use the "nautical" elements, but instead chose "beach" themed pieces and made two spreads about a visit to Pensacola Beach. This helped me consider how to use the collection in a non-obvious way.
