Each month Spellbinder’s Paper Arts releases 10 monthly membership clubs designed for die cutting, cardmaking, stamping, stitching and more. You can pick and choose which clubs are the right fit for you, or you can get the entire set, or as they call it, the Deluxe Caboodle and get them all for a discounted price and also get a bonus gift each month.
As a Spellbinders affiliate, I receive three of these club kits each month – the Glimmer Hot Foil Kit, the Clear Stamp and Die Kit and the regular Embossing Folder kit. (I often times order several of the other kits as well, my favorites being the Large Die and Small Die of the month.)
The Glimmer Kit
One of the reason’s I chose these particular kits is because I bought the Glimmer Hot Foil System and have rarely used it because I found it a bit intimidating. It’s not hard to use. I understand how it works, but I always feel like mine aren’t going to turn out for some reason. So I thought I’d choose this monthly kit as a way to kind of “force” myself to use my Glimmer machine each month and become more familiar and more confident in using it. (I have to say, so far I’m loving it!!)
This month we received a background glimmer plate as well as several sentiments. Glimmered sentiments are the main reason why I bought the Glimmer machine to begin with so I always find these exciting to receive. When you’re subscribed, you also receive a full size roll of foil each month with your kit. I’m not sure if everyone receives the same color foil each month or not. (If you buy the plates not in the subscription club, the foil is not included.)
This month’s glimmer plate was a full cover plate called Elliptical Weave. I like the modern ovals in this design and think this plate makes it simple to create a modern and elegant card. Especially when pressed onto a dark background. This would be great for a masculine card if you needed one too, which can be difficult when creating cards.

My card (pictured at the top) is very simple, just the foil plate pressed onto a black background. I used a gold/iridescent foil called Aura for both the background plate and the sentiment. This set comes with 5 sentiments: Thanks, Hello, Congrats, For You and Smile. I chose Congrats and added it to the center of the card then finished up with a few gold flat back pears from my stash. It’s giving me graduation vibes, I think.
The Stamp and Die Kit
I’ve gotten many (many, many) of the Large Die and Small Die of the Month kits over the past several years. I’d have to say that probably 65-70% (or more) of my dies come from Spellbinders and most of those are from these monthly kits. I enjoy the process of cutting and piecing together the intricate dies. Yes, I will sometimes spend hours on a single card but it’s just something I enjoy and most people who receive them appreciate the effort that went into them.
What is often missing, however, when I get my cards ready to assemble is a sentiment. This is where the Clear Stamp and Die Kit comes in. Usually this is the place to find the sentiments to coordinate with the cards you’ve made using the other kits you have chosen.
This month’s kit was especially helpful in that department because it was ALL sentiments and the die set cuts each one of them out perfectly.

On this card I used balloons from a previous Large Die of the Month kit from a couple years ago and the Perfect Touch Arches Etched Dies from the On The Farm collection. I actually chose my sentiment first and several of them would have gone well with this card. I chose May Your Birthday Be Filled With Great Moments and stamped it on white card stock and die cut it using the coordinating dies. (You can choose to get the Stamp Set with or without the dies if you don’t do a lot of die cutting.)
I layered several of the arches in white, teal and a rainbow striped paper from my stash onto pink card stock. Some of these are popped up on foam, some are glued directly down to the card front panel. I did pop up my sentiment and layer it over the top of my balloons and finished off the card with gems in coordinating colors added to each balloon. This card was very quick and easy to make but I think it still looks great.
This set of sentiments will definitely become a staple in my card making because the sentiments are so usable. I love it.
Hopefully these cards will offer some inspiration for you to use your card kits of the month. See you next month!
