#useyourscrapstash 1 – 6×6 Paper Pads / 5 Cards featuring Carta Bella’s Spring Market

Hello friends –

Today is post #1 in a series that I’ve been wanting to start for a long time.  I’m calling it #useyourscrapstash.  I didn’t invent that hashtag but I wanted to use it for this series where we are going to do just that – use our scrap stash.

I love to buy new products and to be frank, I don’t want to stop shopping.  It’s fun and inspiring to bring new items into your scrap space.  But I can’t only bring things in.  Things have to go out as well.

The way things work in this industry (understandably) is that companies are always pushing and pushing new products.  Before you even get this month’s kits, Design Team members have moved on to the next release.  You barely have time to dip into your kit before you have a new one.  Instagram has become one non-ending series of “sneak peaks” for product releases.

But when do we use the products?  Some of us don’t.  We just collect them as fast as they can ship them to us. Boxes pile up. Beautiful products go into our overly organized craft rooms unused.

I’m no different.  I have unused products and barely touched kits.  And you know what?  I want to use them!  So let’s do that now.

The first post in this series is going to be about using a 6×6 to make 5 cards.  I have several of the Carta Bella “Market” collections and I recently picked up this “Spring Market” 6×6 pad at Tuesday Morning for $2.99.  They’re so hard to resist at that price that I literally have to keep myself from going into the store in order to not buy paper.  Paper is my Tuesday Morning weakness.

So I started by ripping half of the pages out and just going for it.  I made the 5 cards using only the paper pad and a few random pieces of colored cardstock, a couple dies and 4 grey copic markers.

I did film the process of making these cards but I’m not sure yet if I’ll be able to successfully edit down to a reasonable video. Apparently I scrap REALLY slowly. *insert eye roll*
